The benefits of sponsoring an afterschool club

Upstart Enterprise has a proven track record in delivering quality afterschool and during school clubs to years 5-8 (ages 9-13). Funding is hard to come by for running these clubs in deprived areas of Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland. Sponsoring a club can be great for company CSR and by doing so your staff can even get involved in the process, without being too taxing on their time.

Upstart Enterprise volunteers in Benwell organise a launch event

We’re really pleased to be working with a group of volunteers in Benwell in Newcastle. It’s on a launch of new office spaces at Carnegie Building. The office spaces lend themselves well to like-minded charities and social enterprises who want a Newcastle base.

Shy bairns get nowt – Throckley jobs fair 2019

Community Lottery Awards for All enabled us to work in Throckley in 2019.

We worked with community volunteers who identified a need for a jobs and skills fair for the young unemployed and returners to work which attracted over 80 visitors.

How the Gatsby Benchmarks influenced the start of Upstart

In 2018, I volunteered to help in PSHE classes for Year 7, working on an enterprise challenge. What I found was that the teachers were great at teaching the curriculum but teaching a class of 30 kids enterprise skills (when they have no experience themselves) was tough.
