We are delighted to have expanded our schools business enterprise challenge into Northumberland, the first school being New Delaval Primary in Blyth. The children got off to a great start last week thinking about how tech and the environment plays a big part in new business ideas. The children are getting a good insight into an industry that it right on their doorstep. We are also building entrepreneurial skills, boosting confidence and creative thinking which the children and volunteers can take forwards through their lives.

The business enterprise challenge has been kindly sponsored by Draeger, who are located not too far away in Blyth’s Riverside Park.

The business enterprise challenge invites the children to pull a random household out of the bag and re-imagine or modify that object into a business idea.

Here’s some of last week’s objects the children re-imagined in just one session; from smart swimcaps, to motion sensor goggles for the blind, to a shower mat now converted into a ‘Spedo skate’ to a smart shuttle cock/racket combination for badminton lovers:

We’re looking forward to week 7 to meet our judges from Draeger, who will be judging the teams ideas and pitches.

In the meantime we have 7 modules to get through from branding to marketing, finance and sales pitches. The children are loving being rewarded each week with Draeger branded squashies for the hardest working teams.
